Nice work all- especially GD. I like seeing all the different variants lined up together like that. Makes it easier to spot the differences and respect the versatility of the design. :)

Also, great work DP. Much love for the Aardvark :)

I edited again my Mirage IV, with reworked fuel tanks and cockpit window. Are they now ready for crediting?

The Mirage IV was designed in late 1950's a supersonic aircraft capable of carrying nuclear bombs and part of France nuclear triad. Although resembled the Mirage III, the IV was 50% longer, had double the wing surface and weapon load. Moreover, it had the same engine, twin SNECMA Atar side by side in the fuselage. First prototypes had the Atar 9C from the Mirage III and later the more powerful Atar 9K was used in production machines. Development was a challenge, since until 1959 when trials started, no other aircraft had been built capable of cruising at 1.8 Mach for long period of time. After some changes to the tail (enlarged with slight reduction in height, large increase in chord) and many test flights, the elegant french nuclear bomber was ready for production. the third prototype tested the refueling probe and the navigation system, while the second prototype did simulated bombings in Algeria desert in 1962-1963. Production lasted from 1964 to 1968, with only 62 airframes built. The Mirage IV was also capable of carrying convectional bombs or according to some sources up to four Martel anti-radiation missiles. But in that role the two large fuel tanks (2500 Lt each) could not be used. Total fuel capacity internal was 14,000 Lt plus 5000 Lt external, giving combat radius 1240km (670nm) with half duration of flight at supersonic speed. This range was not enough, so Armée de l'Air purchased 12(+2 for spares) Boeing KC-135F for air tankers.
Until 1971 the Mirage IV was the sole means of delivering nuclear ordnance, one AN-11 or one AN-22 free fall nuclear bomb under belly.

darthpanda - You have done a beautiful job on the RAAF F-111C drawings.

You have made an error in the configuration of your aircraft. The F-111C is a version of the F-111A with the early intake configuration which was easily identified by a splitter plate to seperate the boundary layer from the intake. The intakes on your drawings are the later "Triple Plough" type without a splitter plate. This is applicable to the 16 F-111G aircraft the RAAF acquired later for backup of the F-111C fleet and for training.

Another couple of details:

The serial number of the anniversary scheme aircraft should be A8-125 not AB-125. (A friend of mine designed the anniversary tail!)

A8-113 was originally built as an F-111A but was bought by the RAAF from USAF stocks as an attrition replacement aircraft and upgraded to F-111C standard.

All RAAF F-111C aircraft had an upgrade which digitised their avionic systems and allowed for the fitting of a PAVE TACK pod in the weapon's bay. Both the aircraft you have drawn would have had these mods at the time you have drawn them and therefore a bulge in the weapon's bay door would visible in profile. The F-111G aircraft were not fitted with PAVE TACK and were operated only by 6 Squadron as "dumb" bombers and training aircraft so did not have this bulge.

Those comments aside - they are beautiful drawings.

Personally I'd make the line between fuselage and vertical stabilizer black, horizontal stabilizer thinner, landing gear covers and flaps/ailerons outlined in black and would make the wing trailing edge (rear) where it meets fuselage look more "pointed" (as now it looks like it was as thick as leading edge).

Excellent additions guys. Some amazing work here, especially the Super Frelon series.

I'd agree with eswube's comments on the He 178. Its a great start however.
