No I wasn't derailing this tread. you are.

I was telling Colo.. how to use his camera, so mr. Karl... could get the reference needed.

If you think this is derailing.... then you are in the wrong end of the Internet... But I will remember you'r comment, and will from now on derailing any comment you come with.

Let the game begin.

Hi Colo,

As I understand it, if one were to post just the plans, which would be the product of a government employee as part of that person's official duties, those are in fact already out of copyright, so "pirating" wouldn't be a problem - the rest of the book, of course, legitimately deserves protection.

Not trying to cause an argument or pick a side, just saying...

Oh, and of course, obligatory internet disclaimer: I am in no sense a lawyer, if you take this as actual legal advice and something bad happens, you have no-one to blame but yourself ;)

Most of the drawings in Friemans work is produced for the books and as such are protected.

Hi Thiel,

Ah, OK, I'd been under the impression that while Friedman had done a lot of work collating and analysing the plans they were the actual USN plans. Just goes to show that "assume" aphorism is as true as ever!

edit: I hate spelling people's names wrong, it's disrespectful...

Thanks Colombamike for removing the offending material.

Everyone else - I think we have derailed poor Mr. Karle's thread enough, let's try to get back to the matter at hand... ;)

In seriousness: if there are specific pages you'd like out of Friedman's, let me know - I'll see if I can get at least a photo of it (or better yet just scan it, I need to get a new printer anyway).

The design history would be nice, anything detailing size, arnament etc.
