The Petropavlovsk Class, sometimes referred to as the Poltava Class were Pre-Dreadnought battleships built for the Imperial Russian Navy. All three ships fought in the Russo-Japanese War; two were destroyed and one was captured by the Japanese.

Poltava (Полтава) - named after the battle of Poltava, built by the New Admiralty Yard in St. Petersburg, laid down in May, 1892, launched in November 1894. She was commissioned in 1897 and was based at Port Arthur. The ship fought in the Battle of the Yellow Sea in 1904, but failed to escape and was sunk during the Siege of Port Arthur. She was subsequently raised and repaired by the Japanese and served in the Imperial Japanese Navy as the Tango (丹後). During the First World War, she was returned to Japan's Russian allies in 1916, renamed the Chesma (Чесма) (after the Battle of Chesma), and transferred to the Arctic. She was captured by the British in Murmansk during the Allied invasion of northern Russia during the Russian Civil War, but damaged beyond repair. The wreck was scrapped in 1923.

Ker-ching! Brilliant work. Great level of detail on the superstructure.

Hello again!

Simply superb... just deleted a dozen reference pics for that one, was on my long-term list for sometime this summer. BTW, did they paint this class green too for the war against Japan? I'd love to see that, they looked incredibly cool.

Although I usually don't believe in claiming ships - I plan to start Cesarevic and Bayan once I've done a few helicopters for FD, maybe during March. Hope no one beats me there too...

Greetings
GD

Beautiful work as always, my friend! I'm eagerly awaiting Shokaku!

Excellent, always found the Russian Pre-Dreadnoughts to be some of the loveliest warships

There's no such thing as "nothing left to draw" If you can down 10 pints and draw, you're doing alright by my standards

to Garlicdesign:
I didn't know that you're planning this ship too to draw, sorry.
Yes, Poltava got in 1904 an olive-gray coat.

to emperor_andreas:
I'm working on Shokaku, but these "small" ships amuses me more, so I gave them a priority
