My main point of contention is that, since this is an actual constructed ship rather than an iceberg with its top lopped off, would the hull really look like that?

The start of the flight deck was a sort of \_/ shaped deck.
The front end was cut off for guns, the deck was not needed to be larger. i quess?

There is no reason why the steel should not be in standard plates. By texturing it the way you have you reduce it's strength.

I'm guessing that it isn't steel, but painted pycrete.

I'm not sure why you are using the Mk.V 4.5-in d.p. mount from postwar, as, by that time I couldn't see anybody wanting to build this 'thing'; also, notwithstanding its huge size I still wouldn't want to attempt a take-off in a B-29 ;)

p.s. Apart from not being available in wartime, that 4.5-in mount is not the correct one; I did it some time ago and it can be found on Hood's R.N. weapons.

Few others comments, mainly on:
- Airwings.
- 114mm guns (models/dispositions/numbers problems).
- 40mm guns (disposition/numbers problems).

Great work on that hull Alvama, glad to see you followed my advice the other day en went with the more ''woody'' color ;)
And indeed TimothyC, I think the structure above the waterline has to resemble ordinary steel, so that's why it is painted naval gray.

Well its a great and impressive project.
I don't know how accurate that plan is colombiamike keeps referring too, I don't think its based on any offical plans, if any exist.
Given the timescale of constrcution 1946-47 weapon systems seem logical.

The airwing is very odd, really it should be a late 40s airwing like the one I drew for Malta. Sea Hornets, Sea Fury, Seafire 47, Sea Mosquito, Spearfish, Short Sturgeon all seem likely candidates. Certainly not B-29s though.
