Hi everyone!

As the real ship is being build right know, we have several material (pictures of models during Euronaval, CG pictures and videos from DCNS, but also pictures of the real ship herself still in construction) and we can know have a good idea of what the real ship will look like.

I know that MConrads previous design was quite good, but his drawing was based on old wrong datas. As I was drawing a larger FREMM derivative (heli-carrier à la Jeanne d'Arc) for my AU, I thought that I could use what I did in order to draw the real ship.

My drawing is not based on MConrads' : I start from scratch, based on the new datas I obtained recently. I send a PM to MConrads few days ago, as he is the original artist of this ship. He hasn't read my message for the moment, but if you guys think I have to, I'll add his name next to mine on the drawing of course.

This is a work in progress:

Here is MConrads drawing based on the older design of the ship:

You'll see the differences. Some of them are subtle, some other are major on the real ship (the mast mostly, even if it's not so obvious on the side view).

I know that there are plenty of other ships that were never done before, and I promess that I'll do some of them very soon!

If there is anything wrong or inaccurate, please let me know!

For the windows, I do agree. I tried to reduce them on the following drawing, but that's probably the best I could do. Having them smaller will lead to errors in the overall proportion.
I know that they still look big, specially when compared to those on the Forbin class. But they actually are big! In fact, they are even smaller than the FM400's windows. When you compare the two drawings, the FREMM looked better.

So, here is the 95% done drawing:

Feel free to rainfall your comment right know if you want ;)

I still have to work on the underwater part of the hull and on the helipad, but the rest is almost done, so if I forgot something or did something wrong, you can tell me.

You are using the wrong colour on the shaft and prop.

*shrugs* it's the gun that it's likely going to have upon completion.

I know ;)

It was just a try, based on the colors on the side views I had (and I wanted to test some features of Paint.NET using transparency in coloring). The final drawing will be all red/yellow as on the FM400 and Forbin class.

I found it on a sheet on the "Renewing the old part sheet" topic on the forum. I prefer the look of the old version, but I suppose this one is closer to the real gun.

These are rather attractive ships I'll have to say, even though I try to never bring aesthetics into judging a ship design.

Finally having a SYLVER bay is a bonus too. That's what's operationally holding the Lafayettes back. Good patrol boats and ASW assets but a bit pricey for just that without a multi-mission role.
