true, the ships that carried this mortar often carried 2 and 1 might fit when you shorten the elevator, but never think it is an small weapon.

According to the Naval Institute Guide to Naval Warfare, the weight of the Bofors 375mm rocket launcher (including the remote control, or in short the entire system, with 100 rounds ammunition combined) is only 16 tons, versus the 7,500 pounds (3,400 kg)
or 3.75 tons (only the gun, without the ammunition which is 19lb each, 100 rounds is approximately 1 ton) of the 3-inch gun it replaced, and I think weight is not a "bigger" problem because it is a pretty light system with ammunition combined.

so you replace an roughly 5 ton gun with an 16 ton launcher? and you say there are no problems? or the data you name is wrong, or the conclusion you got is wrong.
on the other hand, weapon alpha was about 40 tons fully loaded.

nope im thinking that it's not a bigger problem because it is only 16tons compared to the 40 tons of the weapon alpha, it's only 21 (32 tons for both the launcher, minus 9 tons, the weight of the 3 3-inch guns it replaced [2 guns removed for the launchers, 1 aft gun for extra space, plus the depth charge launchers removed] ) which is the tons increase on the ships weight combined.

compared to weapon alpha it is an smaller problem, comparing to the original ship it is still an problem. I doubt it would work.

The displacement of the Cannon class is 1,240 tons and full-load is 1,620 tons, it can fit the launchers by sacrificing some ammunitions and cargoes. Plus, i removed the ff systems,
3 × 21 in. torpedo tubes (1×3) (replaced with virtually lighter mk32 SVTT)
8 × depth charge projectors
1 × depth charge projector (hedgehog)
2 x depth charge tracks
and an aft 3-inch gun
