Forgive me if i ask.
There are any plans to show Forrestall as originally designed? I saw some sketches featuring her planned straight deck layout somewhere on the board a couple of months ago, but I cannot fid them right now.

I was thinking of taking that one on (maybe with some help) while work is being done on the forrestal (as the underwater hull is the same, and the upper hull as well up to some point)

Her original design (USS UNITED STATES) I believe was also to include fold down masts and a retractable bridge........

I've checked my available sources (such as Friedman, Jane's and Terzibatschisch, and they all agree about the LWL being 990 ft (301.75 meters). However, the individual OA lengths of the four sisters did vary, as I've stated in a previous post. I cannot explain exactly how this deviance should be articulated in a drawing of each sisters, though. (Mind you, most details about hulls and underwater bodies are still classified with regards to the so-called supercarriers, beginning with the Forrestal-class!)

Found the drawings about the straight deck Forrestal i was talking about. They were in the CV(A)-58 Thread:

The original Forrestal design from Friedman's Carrier Design book, generally very similar to the United States.

ok, somebody who's name I do not recognise is doing quite a bit of good work on the forrestal in the dropbox folder. as I don't feel that work should be done alone, can that somebody identify himself (here or by PM) so the help I offered, and maybe that of others here, can come in handy when needed?
