Very nice first effort mate but I do concur with the comment made by my peers. Also your fwd and aft ship numbers are different. Welcome to the site and it's good to have more Australian content. I myself am an ex Navy Officer although I went through HMAS Creswell instead of ADFA as I transferred as a sailor. Hopefully the hectic cirriculum at ADFA will allow you to keep on drawing mate. The new colours for Australian War Canoes looks awesome and certainly brings it into the present. Looks like I am going to recolour my current fleet :)

One thing I must ask is that along with the colour changes are the ships numbers going to change from their current format (ie as per the USN ships numbers)?

Thanks for the comments guys! I will take them onboard and redesign as the weekend kicks on. Hopefully I can get a refined version later today.

@Rodondo, I look forward to seeing you in the fleet after you finish NEOC and JWAC. I should be in Bridge Sim by the time you get there :)

@LEUT_East I am not entirely sure about the ship's numbers. At this stage the only word I had got was from when I was working with the Sea Power Centre for work experience. I'll let you know if I hear anything more though.

So I spent the afternoon revising the Burke-ZAC-deroga class after reading through the comments. I believe I addressed everything and got it all right. [Dimensions will be added when I properly work them about in about 15/20 minutes]

So here's the Burke-ZAC-deroga:

I prefer the silhouette of this version than the Burke-ZAC. As Ace pointed out, this does have a wider beam than average, but I'm not sure that still means she is top heavy (again, noob). I had thought about adding some space to the underwater hull, would this stablise her? I imagine that larger below water-line bilge tanks would help

The second one (the Burke-ZAC) takes in the comments about doing away with the Tic-esque helo deck in favor of a more standard one. She also features another funnel to address the issues engineering plant issues that Erik brought up. However, I do feel that I need to bring the whole superstructure forward slightly and lengthen the flight deck/hangar to help with stability.

In terms of the Torpedos, my thought train in making this was a updated combo of both ANZAC and Burke Flight 1, so for now I think I'll leave the tubes without reloads. Also, I believe I also addressed the shading issues, but I may have missed some spots. Its hard to see on MSPaint :P

Again, all comments and criticisms are greatly appreciated :)

For shading. I always draw my ships in bright colors, forlater change them in to propper colors.

I don't know much about modern ships, but I do know that's the axe from my Varangian CoA. ;)
It's a good drawing, I don't know if systems are correct, but you're off to a good start. :)

oh on the second drawing, since you have lowered the hangar, you might be able to lover the Spy-1 radar.

the second drawing layout works, about the first one I have doubts, even with the heightened SPY-1 array I think you will have interference from the hangar.
