While the AU is pretty well thought out and your drawings are high quality, I just don't see how putting that many miles and modification on World War 2 hulls is feasible. The tartar plus FRAM update just seems like too much weight to put on a Gearing hull and considering those are already twenty years old by the time of the modernization, can't be completely cost effective. Maybe having a group of tartat only, and a group of FRAM only upgrades would be better but both seems like a bit of a stretch for these hulls. I would get rid the Shikaoi class DDG absolutely if anything though as by then the hulls are completely warn out and I really don't see a Mk.41 being feasible on a World War Two destroyer hull. Thats a massive upgrade for a worn out hull with at most, ten years of service left, which is really optimistic. The only RL comparison is Taiwan and while they did retire their upgraded Gearings around the same time, as you are, I would not consider that a sign that doing so is a good strategy, as IIRC it was encouraged by desperation. http://www.shipbucket.com/images.php?di ... %20III.png Here is an example that the great Darth Panda drew, of their upgrade.

on the skhikaoi with the Mk 11 aft, please take a look at the belowdeck parts thread and you will see that the Mk 11 does not fit on that position.
Mk 41 will not fit on that hull either, as the gun has an footprint of about an Mk 13 or even an Mk 22, of which the circumference is less then that of an Mk 41 8 cell, let alone an 16 cell. if you would install it, your forward hull (from bow to mast, roughly) would be rebuild to the level that only the skin plates remain original.

The Navy bought 12 units of FRAM I Gearing class DDG from US in 1965. Before transfer, ships were modernized, fitted with new weapons. They formed the Navy's destroyer fleet until 2005, prior to the commissioning of new class of destroyers.

The 20 units of Yama class patrol torpedo boats were donated by the US to the newly established Ezo Navy in 1947, becaming the first vessels of the Navy. Named after the volcanoes (yama) of Ezo, they served the navy until 1965.

The Chō class is a series of 15 patrol boats bought from the US in 1950, enhancing the patrol capability of the Navy. Named after the towns (chō) of Ezo, they served the Navy until 1990.

It would be probably best to replace the mk11 with a second Sea sparrow and you will have an excellent AAW set up with a 360 coverage plus the Asroc seems to cover the Anti ship capability with harpoon. This would make the Shikaoi a fairly good carrier escort in terms of AAW ad ASW.

Personally I can't see the Yama class making it to 1970 in light of the missile boats emerging in the sixtie but just my opinion

I agree with Rodondo - the only kind of active service in which WW2-built PT's could survive until 1970s is service as recreational yacht. They weren't designed, and - most importantly - built to last that long.

The Navy bought 4 units of Garcia class frigates from US in 1970. Ships were subsequently modified in 1980, and all ships were phased out in 2007.

Just asking.....what if the front gun of my Cho class will be replaced with a Gabriel SSM launcher and the aft with a Simbad launcher..this upgrade will be done on 1990.

The Cho class to be honest after 1975 would be only good for pilotage/coast guard duties unless the speed is still 30 knots plus but a Gabriel launcher would increase the top-weight, possibly too much.

Oh i see...i will just look for i think 1970 patrol boat design and convert it to missile boat..is it good?
