But the question come back to operability, the lift would be hard pressed to fit anything larger than a A4 if not a A4 as well as added trouble of hangar size and shape (mainly width)
There was design work done on operating Tracker-Trader-Tracers (and presumably A-4s for strike and air defense) off of a Commencement Bay that had an angled deck refit).

ASROC launcher replaced with a Tartar SAM launcher..

The Mk11 launcher on ships were later incorporated to fire RIM-66 Standard SAMS.
SAM launchers go either fore or aft for field of fire issues. Make sure there are no obstructions to that field of fire. Same with their associated directors and radars.

Huh, that's interesting. Keep in mind though that Commencement Bay CVEs were fast for CVEs but still slow compared to fleet carriers - I don't know if they would've been fast enough to launch A-4s even with cats.

The Navy bought 4 units of Gearing FRAM I class DDG from US in 1960. Before transfer, all units were modernized and refitted with new weapons and radars. All 4 units served the Navy until 2005, when all units were phased out.
Weapon Alfa and ASROC? The former was phased out as both ASROC and ship launched Mk46 torpedoes from the Mk32 triple tube unit were introduced to the fleet.

Oh snap. I know what my brain did. I conflated the Commencement Bay historical operations (of S2Fs) with the CVE 2/53 schemes - which were to operate jets.

Still, a Commencement bay is going to have lower manning (likely about 500 fewer officers and enlisted), which might be an important factor.

On a note (interesting for an AU, though I'm not sure wether it would fit to this particular one), in 1950s there was a proposal to convert some Commencement Bay CVEs into seaplane tenders for P6M's. (see Norman Friedman, U.S. Aircraft Carriers. An Illustrated Design History, Annapolis 1983, p. 346) ;)

The Navy bought 12 units of FRAM I Gearing class DDG from US in 1965. Before transfer, ships were modernized, fitted with new weapons. They formed the Navy's destroyer fleet until 2005, prior to the commissioning of new class of destroyers.

I wonder why a Mk. 41 was installed along with ASROC. The Mk. 41 could launch ASROC too (the VLA veriant).

It's just getting very problematic. Others more versed than I will explain, but you've greatly exceeded the limits of these ancient hulls.
