Nice......

Do you happen to know if an enclosed mounting was proposed for the KM40 and how it would have looked like? (Hint Hint ;) )

Thanks.

Hi dy,

I've not read anything specific about such a mount - given that it was mounted ashore only in RL I'm not sure such a thing would have been necessary? I can see if I can fit into into the 105mm C/38 mount without it looking daft, but it'd be AU only (and quite possibly wrong!)

Navweaps.com claims there to be efforts to navalize the gun. I'm just wondering if you came across any truth to that claim......

Interesting idea......

You could make it look like pink tophat with a floral pattern and it would still be less daft than most of this thread.

Hi Thiel,

"Interesting" camo! If I want to go daft, I'll just wheel out the 15cm DP gatling turret I drew. And no, that is not a typo. Completely unfeasible on at least couple of counts, I figure, mainly 1) vibration \ shock 2) ammo supply (sketched out a plan for a 6-barrel assembly that would manage 72 rounds / minute. Seventy-two 15cm rounds per minute!) I have no idea how you'd even begin to feed the thing, but whatever it was pointed at would probably have a bad day.

Evening all,

I have eventually found time to try the C/38 mount, on the previous page now ... suffice to say, it doesn't look great. Tried to match up where the trunnions in the 105 would be with where they'd be on the 128 but I don't think it works terribly well. Comment?

In fact, if anybody has any detail on the navalised version of the KM40, I'd be keen to see it - the only thing I've seen on it is that same comment on navweaps that dy031101 mentioned, with unfortunately no further detail.

Some of them are on the Kriegsmarine parts sheet, but otherwise, you would have to scvange the parts from existing drawings.

By the way, I updated the radar parts sheet a bit:

wonderful work....one question: was the 8.8cm single flak used in the 1920s and 30s just locally controlled or was there a HA rangefinder that was ever used with it?
