I'm working with HMS Albatross in her 1942 version. That year she changed from six Walrus airplanes to four Catalina's. Anyone who knows the configuration and colours of these Catalina's? :)

Kim,

The RAF mainly operated the Catalina as a straight flying boat, so in 1942 these would have been PBY-5s. As for colours these would most likely have been Dark Sea Grey/Dark Slate Grey uppers with Sky lowers. These would have had a low demarkation line, with just the underside of the hull being in Sky.

Hope that helps

Mark

found it:

look around Half way down, and you find it!

working on trying to find confirming ref.

This model from an model company says this model is of the ship in 1942:

It looks like it have an biplane hanging from one of the cranes, just like the Walrus

But then I found this from http://www.naval-history.net/xGM-Chrono ... atross.htm:

(Operation THROAT)
(Note: Base was to be established for anti-submarine patrols using four CATALINA
aircraft consequent on increase in U-Boat activity in Mozambique Channel.
See WAR WITH JAPAN Volume III (HMSO).
This project was not implemented as enemy offensive ceased.)
Returned to Kilindini.

Yes I know. It was late in the night and I didn't see that it was an "one timer" member that posted that response...

Which just goes to prove that us "one timers" don't read the dates either.......

Plus Kim asked about Catalinas, and the drawing features Walruses.......
