Post subject: | Looking for a good frontal Plan/Blueprint view/Linedrawing of the South Dakota class + general question |
Hi guys, I've been looking for a good high res Plan drawing of a SoDak class from the front for some time but I just can't find anything. like this for Bismarck: Can somebody help me with this? Best wishes Alex PS.: To all SoDak experts here. Of all South Dakota class Battleships only Alabama got her fully enclosed bridge during the war. Massachusetts got hers after the war and used Awnings as (thats my theory atleast never seen anything official on their use) a stopgap on the open bridge. SoDak and Indiana kept their awning until they were scrapped as far as I can see. Does anybody have any information on the construction of those things? I know they welded the frames to the bridge but was the "roof" made of steel or some fabric, my guess would've been steel since they are still visible with pics of their scrapping? |
