The other day I had a Windows update, and the one thing I noticed was Microsoft Paint 3D, I started to think of drawing ships in 3D, until I opened up the programme and was more than a little bit disappointed to say the least.

That's why I prefer to use KolourPaint instead. IMO KolourPaint is the best simple paint tool for GNU/Linux or Unix systems as it works well for me.

I'll check that programme out, thanks.

Now that I use Linux Mint, I use Kolourpaint for all my drawings. It retains the simplicity and user-friendliness of the original MS Paint but is more capable and has more sophisticated features. You get twice the zoom, far more "undos," the ability to work with transparent backgrounds (whereas Paint just made them black), and as I recently found out, the ability to create complex effects on selections, including toying with the value/brightness of many colors at once (which shaves hours off tasks such as doing panel lines on complex color schemes).
