Due constant spam attacks to the forum, I've disabled new member registration for the time being. Sorry for the inconvenience. I will reopen the registration once we have figured out how to prevent the constant spam-attacks. So far the options which the forum management options provide are not working.

Just use an email, where they have to wait for admin to open there account.

Or just give them a limited access to a small part of the forum, to see how they are, before opening rest of it for them.

I don't think providing new members limited access to the forum, will solve the problem of spammers. As we have seen in the recent day that spammer was only active in the Off Topic part of the forum.

But maybe there is a possibility to give some Members(and i am thinking than of the Elite member)A way to block those Spammers. So they can't post new thing till they be removed from the forum by one off the Admin.

As we all know some off the member do't speak English that well, like me some times( As i have some brain problems afther my stroke) and than have to use google translate. I dont think that those people (thinking off some off the russian or chinees guy's who joint lately)wil sent a Mail to a mail adres to ask if they can join our great forum, and will be lost for the forum.

I was online during the height of the spam attacks, and I even reported some of the posts though I can't keep up with the flux of spam. And I like the idea of the admin screening new members before they are allowed to post, though it could be very time-consuming.

I am not really familiar with how forums are managed, but were not all posts made by one member, making this not an huge attack of spammers but just one who made a huge mess to clean up?

do note that the first guy who tried to subscribe to the forums has already appeared on the IRC chat who had not a clue why he could not find how to register. Maybe put an notification on the login screen or the main site for now?

It has not been just one guy but I've deleted around 10 accounts per day over the past few days before registration was disabled.

Switch to a positive authentication system where admins approve all new accounts.

we are currently considering updating the forum software to an improved model and see if that helps with these issue. it would mean short downtime to the entire site, so when it occurs, We will announce it beforehand

Ok I've activated the new user registration again, lets see if it works this time. If the attacks keeps happening, then we just have to wait until the site-revamp.

well, for time being, just make it so that people that want to become member, have to send a message to one of the admin or trusted member. Until the new thing is coming up
