Hi all! Some time ago, I did some reading in an old book about Dutch Railways which I got from my grandfather when I was young. In it, I found an image and a short description of an old ferry near Welle (just over the Dutch border in Germany), carrying train wagons. I found a zoomed in picture of it on wikipedia: Since I like both trains and ships I decided I wanted to make a sb drawing of it; I did some more research and came found a drawing (which I think must be the right one, looking at the details). Though I cannot seem to find any other specifications of it. I found some info about similar ships on a german website:http://de.academic.ru/dic.nsf/eisenbahn ... ranstalten But I would really appreciate some other info or even a name for this ship. Does anybody know anything about this ship? I'm also doing some last research on the railboats (or ferry?) Prins Richard (Denmark) and the one between Enkhuizen and Stavoren (the Netherlands); so I won't be too bored while I can't start this one; but some help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance! |

We have them in Norway to. I don't think they are in use as a train-ferry anymore but they are restored for tourism... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tinnsj%C3%B8_railway_ferry Note: "SF Ammonia" is the only remaining steam powered railway ferry in the world. http://maanaforlag.no/images/140-05_galleri.jpg http://www.gransherad.net/tinnoset/baat_bane/26_10.JPG http://www.mj-a.no/toganviser/IMG_2006_ ... 200615.jpg http://www.visitnorway.com/ProductImage ... _large.jpg http://www.gransherad.net/tinnoset/baat_bane/27_10A.JPG http://www.varden.no/polopoly_fs/d-f-am ... 561490.jpg Storegutt = Bigboy or largeboy http://www.tinnkort.net/kort/aune_F_481_0.jpg http://media3.origo.no/-/cache/image/22 ... _647x.jpeg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7021/6837 ... d391_z.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7004/6732 ... e05a_z.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/temafoto/6726709079/ |

Badger is indeed steam powered, (and the last coal-fired ship on the lakes aswell, I might add) but no longer hauls railcars. She's been a car ferry for some time now, even hauling semi trailers. I watched her unload, reload, and head out this summer while camping at the state park in Ludington. |

@ Heuhen: I instantly fell in love with this one! Looks a bit like the one from Enkhuizen to Stavoren in the Netherlands, but bigger! As far as you know, has it been done on shipbucket before? I think this might be an interesting topic for me to keep working on (as I'm also busy drawing some trains in sb scale) |

@Morten812 Thanks for the pictures! Great details and interestig details; I've been going through them at least 4 times Were these all taken in Denmark? I heard there used to be a rail ferry, used for transporting ICE trains. Do you have any pictures of that (if the rumors are true)? |
