If its shutting down suddenly, there's a good chance the heat sink is blocked with dust. Blow in some compressed air to the vents and it usually does the trick. |

Don't use your compressor though. They blow out enough oil and water to ruin any piece of electronics. Shell out a few pounds and get a spray can instead. |

When my laptop was to the pc doctor (for 5. times) they did this: First time: - Change of screen (reason: picture and computer started to lock up and the started to come snow on the screen, and from time to time shut down) Second time: - change of hard-drive (reason: computer locked up and from time to time shut down) Third time: - Change of motherboard and replacing fans and heat sink. (reason: computer locked up and from time to time shut down) Fourth time: - Change of screen. (reason: computer locked up and from time to time shut down) fifth time: - change of keyboard. (reason: computer locked up and from time to time shut down, and wet damage to keyboard) And my computer are still doing this.... So I think it is perhaps the memory chip or "CPU". My reason: if something is locking up than there must be a problem to the computer brain, the "CPU" is the computer brain. If the screen starts to lock u totally and you get a type of snowy screen. Than it must be the memory, since a laptop graphics card take memory from the computer memory chip. |

I do hope you're not using a store-bought desktop computer anymore... if you're going to have a desktop, build one yourself! I could build a computer that would be great for drawing and general use for about $600 or so. I just built a top-of-the-line gaming computer for $1300. 16GB of RAM, an AMD FX-8350 4.0Ghz/8-core processor, GTX-680 graphics card, a solid state boot drive, and a 1000W power supply. A similar rig would cost $4000+ from Dell or HP. It's also liquid cooled, meaning the CPU stays at a frosty 37C during heavy usage! |
