Question: In my AU, Cenet, Cenet begins the war allied with Japan, but switches sides some where in 1942 or 43. Traditionally, Cenetian military air craft have been painted light blue on top and light grey on the bottom with a red stripe painted on the fuselage instead of an insignia. After switching sides, the blue paint still remains, and Cenet is still using mostly Japanese aircraft. Would it make sense to change the color of the stripe to prevent confusion with aircraft operated by Japan? If so, what color works best? Here are samples of paint on the Ki-43 and A6M, the 2 most common aircraft the Cenetian navy uses: |

Just curious but how would they get spares for long if they werent allied with Japan anymore? captured? and yes it would be a very smart choice and I would choose either the Black Blue or Green because Red and ORange would be to easy to mistaken with the Japanese sun |

I'd imagine that if you're operating aircraft from another nation you'd set up your own factories to manufacture spares and bits and pieces for them locally, so it wouldn't really be that much of an issue I don't think. Regarding identification markings. If it were me I'd paint the wingtips (over and under) as well as the wrap-around fuselage band. I'd probably choose a bright orange like safety orange with black accenting to form stripes. |

I have another thought. In western militaries, enemy forces are often represented by red, while friendly forces are either blue or green. If your planes flew red colors while flying with Japan, you couls switch to blue or green if you pulled an Italy, or white if you went neutral. |
