I have two paintings here that I scanned and resized. They are from a very old book entitled Germany's Army and Navy of the 19th Century. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what ships they were because the book doesn't mention it. |

The first one says "Aegis", which was an Odin class CDS. |

The ships in the second one are Brandenburg class battleships. The other ship in the first picture looks vaguely like the S.M.S. König Wilhelm, an old sail ironclad converted to a 2nd-class Armored Cruiser in 1895. She had a broadside battery, and might have been the last all broadside armored cruiser in service. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... elm%22.jpg |
