Lately I have noticed that random words are highlighed as if they are a link, and when I roll over them, I get this little green box that gives me an advertisement for some random thing. Then, when I come back to the thread, the mysterious text is gone! I would just like to know if anyone else has noticed or experienced this or if it's just some cookie on my computer. On the left is the roll over thingy, and on the right is what happens when I refresh the page. Edit, it also appears to be intelligent, on the board index, the word "Registered" in the users online box is an ad for student loans, the word "online" links to H&R Block E-file services, as well as any mention of "bow", "ship", or "boat" links to a UTI marine technologies aplication, as well as the picture above. |

I think you have some spyware on your computer. Try a program like Malwarebytes Anti-malware to get rid of it. |

Well I'd strongly consider moving to Firefox with noscript and adblock plus. I'd also install Microsoft Security Essentials (it's free for legal copies of windows). |

I have experienced nothing of the sort, so I'm bound to think it most be a 'local' problem, though a very regrettable one! |

Many so-called "trusted" sites run by companies and organizations that should know better, like apparently IMDb (a site I frequent) resorts to such low-ball scumbag tactics, so it's a problem most people run into sooner or later. Ultimately the only permanent solution would be to actually pass a law to make such software outright illegal - and this will only stop American-hosted corporate websites for the most part. Countries like Russia and China would find it almost impossible to enforce such laws - and that's given an impossibly generous assumption that they care in the first place (hint: they don't). |

For those who still have problems with this you can: Firefox: Mozzila support Explorer Microsoft Answers Edit: But then I found this at Google Chrome support, do that and all you're problems should be solved.
I found it under Chrome extensions, masquerading as
Premiumplay Codec-C. Remove that, and the problem goes away. DO NOT USE the optout.textsrv.com/optout.php solution. That has been provided by the authors of the malware. |

This problem stopped as soon as I stopped using Chrome, and it's just another thing I can add to the increasingly long list of reasons that will make it particularly hard for me to be convinced to switch back to Chrome. |
