Wow, the paranoia is impressive.
Well, we were likely fighting for our existence in WWII- though it was somewhat preemptive, as Germany and Japan would have needed decades to rebuild to the point that they could have challenged an 'awakened' US post-WWII.
Three generations of Americans never challenged for survival, must take up arms to fight for their very existence.
I realize my US history is rather spotty, but wasn't last time the US fought for its existence during the American Civil war 150 years ago? |
