I'm in full agreement with Gollevainen on this. It's a bit strange that the biggest / most powerful warships ever in service aren't represented on this site.
Speaking like a lazy man, carriers are hard.

I'd love to contribute to this effort. I might be able to. At the least, I endorse it. These magnificent ships (seriously, if you've never seen a CVN in person, they're amazeballs) must be represented here.

Yup, and I've never had any interest in them (guns are cooler). Otherwise I probably would have drawn them a long time ago!

Good luck to whoever takes up the mantle.

I might join in on this. this will cut some other USN projects short for me, and I would like to work together with somebody more knowledgeable on these ships at least for advice and systems fitting, but I am not against starting on the kitty hawk class or the big E. I think I have the ability, but not the knowledge yet, so it might take a very long time....

so if I get the green light, and find some good refs, I might just start soon ;)

At this point its basicly first came gets first served. Many have hogged these vessels to their worklists, nothing is getting done... time to put pressure becouse I again assert this; its a bloody shame upon us all, that these ships are not drewn yet.

Perhaps a co-operative venture like the Old Grey Funnel Line should be created for these USN carriers? A mix of talents to draw the ships, top-views, and get the details and electronics right. That might make the process quicker too.

And while we're at it the older USN planes (some of which are mine) probably need replacing with new ones drawn since and updates for those not already redrawn.

I agree with Gollevainen and Colosseum completely. Crazyhorse is a terrible artist. I think that all of his carriers should be removed immediately, because they're so terrible. I was fooled by JFK, and I don't want others to be made to look stupid as well. I'm doing America now, and I'm glad that Big E and the Nimitz's are being redone.

I wouldn't call him a terrible artist - rather just one who didn't take the time to confirm the scaling was correct on his ships. ;) As for the quality of the ships in question, they're pretty good by those days' standards.

Either way, as I have stated before, it's 100% required that new drawings be started from scratch.

Could I keep the USS Nimitz and I will submit the TOTALLY REDRAW Crazyhorse's drawing ?

Yes of course - I was just saying that anyone who draws them will need to start from scratch, not that you yourself couldn't draw it. ;)

I have access to Friedman's US Carriers if anyone would like help. I've also sent out a PM to Youboat to see if he wouldn't mind me uploading his CVLs to the main site.
