I was just wondering if there are any elements of funnels for frigates that are needed (or just the general shape) if the vessel in question is CODAG driven?
The only general rule is that they're generally going to be short (I'm guessing it has something to do with exhaust efficiency) while still tall enough to clear whatever structure is behind it (generally any walking surfaces; radar masts and etc can live with the smoke). Many are short little round stumps but nowadays you're seeing blocky stealth structures. They also don't need to be down the middle; a lot of ships you'll see offset funnels. Finally, you'll typically find air vents on the funnels; these are the inlets for the engines (the exact opposite of the funnels proper, in other words).

and of course noisier, but more fuel efficient..... it is just what you want your ship to do
