I've always said, Don't make worklists that you cannot complete.
Still, even the most high ranking members tend to sometimes grap huge ammount of ships that will remain in those worklists for years, blocked from eager new artist by the galore of prestige one poses... those who haven't it, looses their ships and unneserical drama ensures... those who poses it become seen as tyrannical opressors, crossway to all progress
Idea of Whislist and worklist separation is good approach, thougth it doesen't take away all the proplems.
The main idea of SB is to fullfill the archive whit best quality there is. Unfortunetly, this means, (if said in plain finnish) that some are more "equal" than others in terms of having the rigth to do it. A newbie with love of lots of thick overlapsing layers of black pixels and crosshaped portholes migth not be the best pick for drawing profilic icons like KMS Brismarc or HMS Hood... compared to shipbucket veterans who have the skill and artistic eye to take up the challenge. Also, an american teenager who's visited once in globalsecurity.com migth not suite best to drawn a one of experimental Soviet guard ship compared to someone who migth have 10-15 actuall books about the subject and has drawn singlehandedly all the nesserical parts that are required to complete the drawing
It migth sound rude and harsh, but thats what they reality has been for quite long now and will naturally be so in community like this.
SO naturally we are closing the border where the orginal chivalry and gentleman approach to worklists and other conducts are becoming obsolete. Something that worked well when the ammount of artists were countable with one man's fingers doesen't automatically work with community of members closing to one thousand.
Ever since I took completely over the power, I have imagined a some sort of sub-staff class of "elders" who would sort of be in charge of the "communal" feedback and regulating things like worklists and claims. Someone whose voice wouldn't be the authoritan administrators orders, but still something that would have more value than any random lurker. Sofar that idea have never taken much wind (propably becouse I suspect you have just seen trough my devilish attempt to enslave you to do all my practicall work
) but perhaps sometime near future, the managment of shipbucket must go into that direction.
