Contacting the US Navy is a bit intimidating, maybe, especially when telling them they are violating copyrights or any legal infringement.
Any way here is the webmaster mail link <cnsp.webmaster@navy.mil <cnsp.webmaster@navy.mil>

well, fact is, websites like these are often build and managed by some guys who just google their images. and if they get an sb image, yeah, they cut off that 'ugly stuff'
so you might get results, if handled by such a guy :P

No, the good part about "my job" is that I have no real responsibilities other than making sure the website still works. I am not and have never pretended to be an expert on legal issues. Generally in the past I thought some of the more "legally" minded people would send the requests out. ;)

Management is all about delegation of tasks to the "right people". One day you will learn this. ;)

Try treating the Navy web dude as if he/she/it were a museum I.T.:

"We're truly honored that you've posted our work on your site. Would it be possible to properly credit the image? The following link('s) should help you: INSERT OUR COPYRIGHT INFO and DATA PAGE HERE.

Feel free to contact us for additional imagery, we'd be happy to start a relationship that could be mutually beneficial to both our sites/organizations.

Thank You,
Shipbucket.com and our international community of maritime geeks.

Note: I use similar statements when we run into problems with museums over at PacificNG.com. It periodically happens with old images we use. Museums have an "original" photo, drawing, etc. in their collections that have also existed in the "wild"...many were printed by the dozens, traded, sold, etc. A lot that we deal with predate copyright laws in the U.S. A lot of curators don't understand this and guard media like jealous children...after all, they also treat the images as a revenue source. It's gotten to the point where some of the big railroad museums are starting to come to us to interpret for them what it is they have in some imagery.

Thank you, Novice.
There are a few more Shipbucket drawings without credits on that website. I took a liberty to contact the person whose contact info is provided in the copyright information section.
