SM-39 is the easiest and best solution, but the question when this missile could be in service. A possible timeline for these 8 Oberon-H (Triaina) submarines? 1963-1972 is good?

For covering Aegean,Ionian and East Mediterranean 12 submarines needed according to a submarine navy officer (10+2 for covering Cyprus), as he said in an for a defense magazine in 1995. If we add 2-4 for Black Sea (my scenario) my needs are 14-16 submarines. So, 8 Oberon and 6 Guppy are ok. In the 1980's eight Agosta Class replaced the Guppy's. Next submarine program was the Scorpene-H (instead of Type 214), first with fuel cells AIP system. Also the Agosta were modernized, but did not received AIP.

I don't know the exact date, but I think that sub-launched Exocet was introduced around 1980. By 1963 only sub-launched anti-ship missiles were Soviet P-5/-6 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P-5_Pyatyorka ) - which were huge and not vertically launched.

Timeline of SM-39 fits, these Oberon built without any missiles and received Exocet SM-39 in 1980's under modernization program. The dates 1963-1972 was for the submarine itself, is ok or need to revise it?

Total eight Oberon submarines where built for RHN, two in UK and six in Hellenic Kingdom under silence. All built in 1963 to 1974. In 1980's all modernised with ISI Hyperion I CMS, which was built around Signaal SMR-4 computer with indigenous developed software in collaboration with RHN Research and Development Center. Nine systems built, of which one was a fire simulator for training purpose. Hyperion I was capable of engaging 6 targets simultaneously with torpedoes or three with torpedoes and one with SM-39 missile (look for real "Unisys Kanaris", on which I launch my AU system). Second batch of Oberon had the IA, which could fire the sub-Adis II missile, which has range about 120km. New software replaced the older in first batch also.

Agosta 70H built in 1980's and featured the Hyperion II, which was based on previous but could guide French torpedoes ECAN L5 and F17, together with SM-39/sub-Adis II cooperating with French electronics. Later Hellenic developed TP101 and TP121 torpedoes were integrated, producing Hyperion IIA and IB. These are still in service.

Finally, Oberon-based Triaina Class submarines phased out and decommissioned until 2008, replaced by a design based on Scorpene Class. These last submarines use Hyperion III CMS, an evolution of previous designs. Some rumors say that Hyperion III is equivalent with French SUBTICS in capabilities, but no official report exists. Main difference is the AIP system, which use hydrogen-oxygen fuel cells instead of usual MESMA.

Next sumbarine project will be an enlarged Scoprene with 12 X VLS Chimera missiles (like Virginia-class submarine with 12 X VLS Tomahawk)
