Altesian Hospital Ship ARHS Yuchito (892-825)



SS Yuchito, later known as ARHS Yuchito, was an ocean liner and later hospital ship belonging to the Alteias Republic. She was owned by the Luina Steamship Line, built by the Skanoe Shipbuilding and Engineering Company of Remoris, and launched on 33 November, 792.

Yuchito was followed shortly by sisters Astartia (launched 21 April 793), Ilishii (launched 12 December 793), and Straeya (launched 7 June 794), all of which were nearly identical in their dimensions. Despite being the oldest, Yuchito would prove to be the fastest of the class, making a record breaking run between the Gliadean port of Kirsea-ro-Marae and the Altesian port of Meria in six days and nine hours at an average speed of 22.68 knots.

The Yuchito-class had some of the finest reciprocating machinery ever installed in an ocean liner and represented the peak of what reciprocating engines could achieve. The first turbine driven ship would take to the water only six months after Straeya's launch. The Yuchito-class were the Luina Line's final class of ocean liners with reciprocating engines to run the flagship Meria to Kirsea-ro-Marae route.

When Yuchito entered service, she was the largest and most luxurious liner afloat. She was an immediate success and maintained her popularity even as newer ships entered service. However, with the start of the Second Intercontinental War in 816, Yuchito was requisitioned by the Altesian navy and converted into a troopship. She carried out her role for a year and a half, carrying about 3,500 troops per crossing. In 817, the increase in casualties was too much for the number of hospital ships then in service so it was decided that Yuchito would be converted to become a hospital ship. Returning to service in April 818, her facilities treated thousands of patients. After the war ended, Yuchito was bought by the Altesian navy and remained a hospital ship, treating particularly intense cases of the Ferinkan Flu pandemic which ravaged the world from 820 to 821.

After the pandemic ended, Yuchito remained in Remoris harbor until 24 February 825 when a magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit the Alteias Republic. Yuchito's crew immediately began disaster relief efforts, but fourteen hours later, a tsunami made contact with the Altesian coast and smashed Yuchito into the very slipway that she was built in. She was declared a total loss the next day and was scrapped on the spot in order to clear space for the slipway to be rebuilt. A memorial plaque located at the bow end of the slipway was dedicated a year to the day after the earthquake in memory of the much loved ship.

NV Korsar Autumn

Ships of the Korsar Equinox Class:

• Korsar Equinox (Built 2016)
• Korsar Autumn (Built 2019)
• Korsar Ethereal (Planned 2024)

This is the NV Autumn is the second ship of the Equinox class of Ocean Liners. She was built with a Thorium Reactor, so if you were wondering why you don't see a funnel, that is the main reason. In accordance, the ship does have ventilation for the reactor on board. As for other details, this ship would be considered the biggest passenger ship in the world, spanning 375.5 meters. The sister ship, Equinox, was designed and built at 374 meters. The main difference in length is due to the bow changes.

When it comes to the speed of the Autumn, the ship cruises at 30 (or more) knots with four Azipods (unlimited range, up to 25 years). The ship holds a total of 5,634 passengers and crew. The ship is approximately 240,000 tons. In Late 2021, the liner was converted into a Hosptial Ship and now serves to create relief for those on and off the battlefields in the Southern Kingdoms. With the added space from no liquid fuel (like oil), the extra space is used for extra medical supplies and food. This allows the liner to be a floating operating theater. Allowing a quicker recovery for those ill and injured by the war.


I took a lot of time detailing what is inside the ship; if any of you look closely, you can see paintings, tables, lights, plants, and much more. And of course, Waldo, if you find him, of course. As for other details, for any helicopter to try to land on this ship, they cannot unless the helicopter is considered a light one, and it can only land on the bow. As for all the others, they must hover. Special thanks to Thiel for helping me understand the reasons behind helicopters landing on cruise vessels.

As for the rest of the ship, I initially planned to create a top view, although I didn't realize how long it took me to draw this. So I had to dismiss that idea. I do plan to make the Ocean Liner "in service" version of this ship.

Congratulations to all of those who participated and great job, thank you very much Kiwi once more for being a superb host. I just voted and the average quality here is good! I noticed that the people who draw civilian ships tend to shade differently, with shadow going up the bow without fail, which doesn't correspond to following the angle the light hits the ship at but eh? I'm very glad to see ships of different kinds and not just converted liners too.

The Hospital Ship Challenge community poll is now closed. I wish to thank the 23 people who responded before the deadline and the 10 artists who submitted entries. In contrast to the Attack Helicopter Challenge, this was not exceptionally popular. However, that did not diminish the outcomes achieved by those who did participate. Everyone who participated deserves a pat on the back. Now, on to the results.



In first place is Skibud1998 with NV Autumn, an impressive ship with excellent detail. Dispensing with Shipbucket's traditional opaque glazing was a bold decision and I think it paid off. After all, they did achieve the highest score in the Drawing Quality category. Great work! Second place goes to LEUT East who submitted AS Mary Foley, perhaps the most martial-looking entry of the challenge. The Independent Federation of Australia AU is abound with high quality art and this is no exception. LEUT East also received the highest score in the Design Quality category. Finally, in third place, we have WesleyWestland and their hospital ship HMS Westlandic. With Britannic being one of the most famous hospital ships of its era in the real world, it was great to see something of comparable grandeur in this challenge.
