"The heavy-cruiser USS Louisville (CA 28 ) was hit & one of these 8" guns turret damaged by a japanese kamikaze attack on January 05, 1945. The damaged turret was removed and taken to the Nevada Test Site & converted into a "rotating radiation detector", to collect data on nuclear tests.

No more info about this turret "atomic-use" :?: :?: :?:
