Post subject: | Planning to redo most Norwegian Navy ship(heuhen worklist) |
after several months of research. I have collected some Norwegian documents on the Norwegian Navy. What I have of information and will draw: Note: Some ships classes that consider of several similar vessels (like Kobben class submarines, for example) I will only draw the lead ship. I will also try to draw and post ships in the order they was scrapped/build. Norway scrapped a lot of old WW2 ships and replaced them with New ones: ships that was scrapped (total: 39 vessels) - Destroyers: 4 - Destroyer escort: 4 - Submarines: 8 - Torpedo boats (elco): 10 - (minelayer)/(Minesweeper): 10 - Support: 3 ships that was build during the main build plan (total: 56 vessels): - Frigates/Destroyer escort: 5 - Corvette: 2 - Submarines: 8 - Cannon boats (PT): 21 - Torpedo boats (PT): 12+8 - (minelayer)/(Mine+sweeper): (no information at the moment, they was replaced at a later time with a different tactic) - Support: (no information at the moment) - Coast Guard (no information at the moment) Norwegian main naval build plan: ship that was scrapped: 1960: HNoMS Vale (minelayer) HNoMS Vidar (minelayer) HNoMS Elco boats "1" (Torpedo boat) HNoMS Ellida (minelayer) 1961: HNoMS Trondheim (destroyer) HNoMS Arendal (destroyer escort) HNoMS Narvik (destroyer escort) HNoMS Glomma (Minesweeper) HNoMS Tano (Minesweeper) HNoMS Elco boats "2,3,4" (similar as the first Elco boat (torpedo boat) HNoMS ..... I will draw 2 artist version of an modified fletcher class, will look similar to Oslo class, with: Version 1: - 5" guns (with modern firing control) - 40 mm guns - Terne III - 2 X triple torpedo tubes - Depth charges - Helicopter deck (perhaps hangar) Version 2: - 3" guns aka Oslo class - 40 mm guns - Terne III - 2 X triple torpedo tubes - Depth charges - Helicopter deck (perhaps hangar) (Version 3: Fram II?) - Sleipner class (as original designer: 10 meter longer version) Sleipner class was original designed 10 meter longer with better stability and seakeeping, but was cut down, due to Government believed they was to big and expensive. There was also planned a total of 4 Sleipner class corvette and only 4 frigates, but when the government decide to cu down on the corvette, the Navy build the 5th frigate in the Oslo class. ships Build after 1970's up to the modern era, will come: |

Very good information there Heuen. Normally we just see 'scrapped', but to see it as it has been laid out to the plan you have given really gives an idea of how much planning goes into balancing in service to being built. |
