Dear Community,

it appears that my term as an active drawer may finally have come to a determined end. I know I've thought this before, and yet managed to bump back.

Now, however, the situation is very bleak. I was uninformed enough, instead of storing all my files on,say Google Drive, to store them on a USB flashdrive.

This appears to have been corrupted beyond recognition and, most importantly, repair.

I have lost some 30 folders with, possibly 70,000 - 80,000 files possibly much more, including all, and I mean all of my own drawings.

So, with this, I don't think I can stay active on SB anymore. It'd take too much effort to try and reassemble the lost files, so, better quit and move on.

A Great Appreciative Thank You to All who have supported me, critiqued me or even pissed me off. Either way, you helped one way or the other!

Bon Voyage

Hi Bezo,

I'm sorry to hear that, but would ask if you've asked any data recovery specialists about getting the data back. We've had a few instances at work of stuff going unrecoverable (not, I'd hasten to add, inside the department itself!) and the majority of the time these guys seem able to get it back - for a fee.

Regards,
Adam

I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune, Ari, a situation that has also plagued me in the past. As Adam so rightly said, there are some specialist who can recover data, even as much as 90% dta recovery success. It is an amazing number, and comes with a cost, but worth the effort (in my eyes at least).
Should you go ahead with your intention of resigning from being an active member, than let me just say that I'll be sorry to lose your next drawings.
Hoping for all the best for you

I do hope that something can be done for recovery of your files as Novice and APDSmith have indicated. Artists of your quality are few and far between and losing one from the Shipbucket Community is always a major loss. Hopefully something good can happen for you.

I also hope that the family problems that have assailed you over the last year or so cure themselves in your favour.

Whatever you do may good luck follow.

Not the best news to read before bed.

Good luck with you'r future endeavor.

You can wonder off, but you'r hobby will still be there, when you get bored, you will find you self suddenly in paint or something similar, drawing something... weird.

So no it is time for me to say, without Censor:

Damn, blast and fuck.

Sad to hear what happened. I once had similar episode with my external hard-drive falling into floor and then stopped working.

Also I hope you will return to us someday.

Cheers
Golly

I feel for you :(, hopefully this doesn't permanently remove your talent from the community maybe you could come back and pick a new genre/focus so you don't feel your just redoing work after all the best of the end product hopefully is mostly saved in archive for all to see.

I trod on my flash drive last year, hence prolonged absence from the site. Still waiting on whether data can be recovered so feel your pain, sir. Hopefully things can be saved and we see some of your excellent artwork again

Losing data is always a pain and I can sympathise with your frustration.
Hopefully you'll get back to drawing in the future though. Maybe a clean slate might stir new ideas and projects?

At the very least I hope you'll stick around and continue to contribute your knowledge.
