That fact for Norwegian frigates make sense for a country were snowfall can reach easily two meters high in ground.
yup. I remember once when I lived in the Northern Part of Norway, during Christmas time. I went to bed while it was only half a meter with snow outside, next day when I woke up... well I could not see out of the window!

The best part is that after two days of snow, it will be raining. And all that snow will be turned into ice. Crystal clear ice. As fas as the eye sees. A lot of fun walking to work in pitch darkness, never knowing if what you walk on is slippery as hell ice. Maybe you fall and break an arm, or a foot, or your neck. Ah, good times.

Its starting to get near half meter size banks of snow here in Central Finland, where I've been staying for my vacation... last couple of days the snowfall has been rather heavy and each morning had got some 10-20cm worth of snow at top of the car... Also Im getting to notice that the ploughmen here with those tractors and little bobcats seems to get worse and more amatourish ever winter, piling the snow in middle of roads and all sort of nonsense. And just looking how they roam among the parked cars makes my heart stop beating from time to time.
