Whilst in refit in Brisbane, HMAS Bundaberg has been seemingly severely damaged by fire. If she is written off, it might speed up the 2000t multirole warship program a bit as Operation Resolute's current operating ships will have to fill in the gap left

Well maybe there's an opening for former HMAS Advance, Gladstone or Townsville, to my knowledge Advance is kept in running order and Gladstone and Townville have only bee decommissioned for 7 years. Though they'll probably charter a ship like the Ocean Shield.

Judging by the news coverage last night and the fact that Bundaberg was made primarily from aluminium, I would say that she will be written off. There is a small rumour that the Navy is going to request the use of one of the Australian Customs Bay Class vessels to fill the gap although it is way to early to confirm that.
