To call it a "supercarrier" is a bit misleading. It's only about 40,000 tons (not much bigger than a WWII-era carrier) and it hardly carries the air wing of a USN carrier.

Just what i am thinking. It has what, 20-30 planes? Normal peacetime air wing for US carrier is 50-60 planes, with a max capability of 120-130 F/A-18s.

Considering that these are MiG-29s (and in the future, the Tejas) and not just Harriers or helicopters, that's still pretty impressive.

Max capacity that I've seen is around 72-96 Hornets and Superhornets.

Also, the Indians are moving toward a realm that only the US, France, Russia, and Brazil inhabit (and China is moving towards) - the realm conventional fixed wing carrier aviation.
