It looks like a new p.c., as its beginning to crash again, and once it begins it becomes more and more fast at doing so; I've got a mate coming around tomorow to see if its worth saving, so I'm out of it for a while (though I can still use my lap top a bit - orrible things ) |

Sounds awful (and bit like some kind of epidemic - first ALVAMA, then You). Hope it will be fixed soon! |

Lucky me; I have a mate who is a head of IT, and last night he more or less rebuilt my p.c. with a a new drive and loaded Windows 7. Now I have to learn how to use Windows 7 Watch this space for an old codger swearing |

It took me a while (and much swearing) to get used to windoes 7 and the new paint, but eventually I got it. You'll get it too. I actually like the new paint better now. I guess you CAN teach an old dog new tricks sometimes. |

Windows Vista -> Windows 7 is a nice change. Vista is actually very bad. XP was great but it has too many security issues nowadays to really be viable. You will get used to Win7... just like I am about to have to get used to Windows 8! |

Thanks chaps, and I'm gradually working my way around it. My main gripe is that the items (in folders) cannot be viewed as images, so I click on them to reduce then sort of peer at the tiny image at the bottom of the screen. Also, I copied my saved Shipbucket working folder back onto the drive, and then it began deleting individual folders on the stick for no apparent reason, so now I'm re-saving back onto the stick, weird, or what? |

You should be able to set the icons in each folder to thumbnails. It's easier than peering at the little image. |

Back to square one; after new hard drive, and having Windows 7 installed the p.c. is now crashing again; I'll stay here until it goes again - should be soon |
