Since we can't refuel the carriers it's time to GO GREEN! Solar...WIND! We need a sail plan for carriers!

It is Karle, the only thing that grows in Chernobyl now is grass and weeds.

This is of course just my opinion but I think it's clear that the economics may dictate reducing the force by a carrier or so. Regardless of whether or not this effects readiness and deployment, we just might not be able to afford it.

The solution is simple. Cut the army. Reducing the active duty army by two divisions would save enough money to keep the current force fully active and still save money, but that would require that congress do something other than the most stupid course of action.

That might be enough to save a carrier but in the long run it may be necessary to reduce even further. Either way I support your idea.

Could reduce the military to a continental defense force and let the rest of the world fend for itself. ;) I'm sure they'd be happy to see the overbearing U.S. military presence gone.

You can't do that, not and not put the entire economy at risk. Fundamentally, the US is, and always has been a trading nation. A President Coolidge said "The Business of America is Business." If trade stops, America stops.

And if America stops ... (shudders inwardly...) who can tell what will happen next
