I was trying to work on my very first drawing using SB/FD with line drawings. But when I re sized the image, the once clean line is now littered with extra pixels. How do I get rid of those? It's kinda frustrating trying to guess what pixel to include in the trace. Little help? |

I'm afraid this is a common bane, a bit of judgement and also measurement to establish the desired dimensions is the way I do it |

ah but in interpreting the pixel haze is the main skill that you need in tracing, and propably one of the biggest factors that creates the variety between the styles of the artists. |

and of course the reason why you cannot work from one linedrawing alone, in general. |

Make sure you keep a full-size copy of the reference work, and find as many pictures as possible. When I did the Odessa yacht, the travel agency pictures were invaluable in determining what certain things actually were. that will help overcome some of the haze. |

If your lucky you'll get a decent sized drawing; if not, you'll still have to resize for scale. And as our illustruous shipmates have said, the rest is sweat; meaning, hours spent getting decent photographs, which you then study until your eyes hurt. Then, when you finally post something, a member will suddenly post a fantastic photo (or drawing) which makes what you've just done redundant, so welcome to the world of real life drawings, where the men hang out |

amen to that! true words of one who knows truly what an bucketeer does! and now serious: in my opinion you have 3 ways of getting to perfect real life drawings, in order of how good the drawings can get: - construction or general arrangement plans used together with pictures or other visual references: in this case everything is perfect - pictures only! this way, by correcting all the non-linear lines, you can still get perfect drawings, the details will be great, but the overall shape might be off - an linedrawing and pictures. why is this behind pictures only? because when you have an linedrawing, you don't check sizes. with pics it is possible to make mistakes, but if you linedrawing has errors you will make the same or even bigger ones, without knowing so without correcting. everything could be perfect, but if it goes wrong, it will be very wrong. and of course you can see you need pics for every way and you, kerkie, have just ran into one of the accuracy problems of the third method |

Look for yard plans and similar when tracing. Don't use garbage from The Blueprints etc. |
