Norway has just become one step more dangerous for possible enemies. Norwegian Armed Forces have purchased FGM-148 Javelin. From now on this and the Archer artillery cannon is my favorites. Man, I wish we had those when I was in the army. It makes the TOW seem positively primitive. |

Penetration compared to the earlier models of TOW is insane too. That said £30k per shot is rather expensive when for the sorts of warfare that we're going to be engaged with for the foreseeable future a TOW with a DP of Fragmentation warhead would do just as well... |

Norway's military, from what I've heard, punches a good bit above its weight, and hopefully the Javvy will indeed add to that. IIRC Norway developed a (now-defunct) unit back in the 1980's called HV-016 that, among other cool things, was designed to take out Spetsnaz units. Our special unit in the home guard "HV-016" was laid down by the government just months before Utøya massacres and explosions in Oslo! Off topic: (So I've begun to wonder: How is it that the Norwegian government can destroy the Norwegian security. It is said that the HV-016 could have been out on Utøya in under 30 min. faster than the police needed. because in the local area lived 2-3 HV-016 soldiers!) |
