All,

I've recently gotten back into Sea Powers, and we've decided to start including some more nationalities. We currently have the standard US-UK-Japan-Germany set, but we're looking to include the USSR, Italy, France, and the Netherlands. The thing is that I need help finding a good ship list for each nation.

Right now, I need help finding the following ship classes for each of the new nations (and some of the old ones).

[*]Small fast attack craft, motor torpedo boat, or patrol/torpedo boat (similar to US Elco PT boats)
[*]Small landing craft, similar to American Higgins boats or Japanese Daihatsu barges
[*]Medium landing craft, similar to American LCIs
[*]Large landing craft, similar to American LST

We also need the following:

[*]Frigate/destroyer escort
[*]Pre-war destroyer (a la American Clemson class)
[*]"Modern" destroyer (a la American Fletcher/Sumner/Gearing classes)
[*]Treaty Light Cruiser
[*]Post-Treaty Light Cruiser
[*]Treaty Heavy Cruiser
[*]Post-Treaty Heavy Cruiser
[*]Battlecruiser
[*]Treaty Battleship
[*]Post-Treaty Battleship
[*]Light or escort carrier
[*]Aircraft carrier
[*]Submarine

Note that we don't necessarily need ALL of these, just something that fits.

Thanks guys.
Ian

I probably can help you with the Italian and French issues, just lemme know what specifics you'll need of these navies. I'm sure ace will assist you with the Dutch side.

I just need a class and a wiki/reference link to it for each type. Thanks!

A good place to start looking for classes and ship types is History of the World's Navies. They give some basic info broken down by country and class, enough that you can get a good idea of what each had, and know where to go for more detailed info.

Here's a start on some Italian ships.

[*]Frigate/destroyer escort (none, they didn't really have this type until post-war I believe. I could be wrong.)
[*]Pre-war destroyer (a la American Clemson class) Navigatori Class
[*]"Modern" destroyer (a la American Fletcher/Sumner/Gearing classes) Soldati Class
[*]Treaty Light Cruiser Guissano Class
[*]Post-Treaty Light Cruiser Capitani Romani Class
[*]Treaty Heavy Cruiser Trento Class
[*]Post-Treaty Heavy Cruiser Zara Class
[*]Battlecruiser (none)
[*]Treaty Battleship Andrea Doria Class
[*]Post-Treaty Battleship Littorio Class
[*]Light or escort carrier Aquilla
[*]Aircraft carrier none
[*]Submarine Perla or Adua Class

Italy's corvette is the Gabbiano class
Small destroyers, in fact torpedo boats were The Ariete class, or the pre war Spica class.
Pt boats are MAS boats.

Yeah, can I insert a personal facepalm and a big DUH here. I don't know how I managed to forget about those, since I really enjoy studying the pre-war and WW2 Italian navy. Very under-rated ships, if you ask me. They had some very elegent designs, especially, IMO, the Zara class cruisers and the Littorio BB's. Those are a couple of my favorites.

I can make a Dutch list? And also include the finished ones I made.

Adua and Perla are both two (of five) series of class 600 medium submarines.
At least add a long-range class...

The subs on the German side are: Type VIIC, Type IXC and Type XXI if that helps as a rubric for other nations' submarines.

I appreciate all the help and hope to compile the list later today.
