Post subject: | ambitious idea |
When i was younger i created Paper models. But not from ships as a main thing. When i was younger i was set to become Architect, so i created building (Houses, towers, bridges etc etc). But also cars. And sometimes ships. Now i got an idea since i am for a long term here. To create Paper models out of existing drawings. I asked Gollevainen, like 1 month ago and he said ok. But not for money. Ofcourse not! I just want to create and gain a nice fleet op SB drawings. What do i want to do?! What are you saying?! Things like this. Now what do i need? And what do you need if you want to do it? 1.The original plans of a ship, or at least photo's that can show you how every side/floor of the ship is. 2.Front view, side view's, top view, rear view. 3.Time to produce 4.A plain view (That is what it is called, it makes the structure and strenght) Black and White forms showing the form of the certain ship. And not the details. 5.Create a test model out of that 6.Create plates to cover those Plain view. It has details, colours, and everything needed. 7.Smalles items, like guns, cranes, antenna's etc etc. What am i planning to do? I want to create the S frigate as a paper model, as first. Then i hope to create the OPV (Holland), out of Acelanceloet and mine drawing. So what do i want to achieve? Expand my gain of fun in Shipbucket, and to create a will in people to do the same (A lot of real papermodel makers disbanded. Because the need was ghone) And maby also later in the future, to create a place in Shipbucket to sell them for the Bucket. (I dont know what Golly thinks of this). It will create a large opportunity to set us on the world as professional drawers. Who is with me? Who wants help to do this? Who wants a video (tutorial) for this? Mitch. |

Mitch I like your idea. It's really creative. I don't think I'll do these paperships myself, but when I look at your photo of M/S Schaarhörn, I can see the goodness in your idea. Go for it |

Sounds like a really nice idea, but wouldn't they go soggy and sink when you played with them in the bath |

No, i build them with photopaper or special cardboard. This way you can play with them in the water, or spray them with paint. Or even build in lights and engines to get a usable mini model to play with. |

I am currently producing the rear/front view of the S frigate (Sketch up), togheter with plain side. I will make the basic model out of that, and in the progress i will show you guys how to. All models will be on Shipbucket scale, otherwise it is hard to convert SB ships to 1/700 or bigger scale... What scale is SB btw? 1/890? Btw, i didnt had much time for drawing at all, because of solicitations, desktop rebuild (meh 16 core, 16gb ram :):) ) and other stuff. But from i quess wednesday i will be working on the drawings like maniac, and produce some models in between out of them. This also results in dutch warships being created with front, side(both), rear and top view. Mitch |

Wow, that's ... ambitious. To make a 3D model out of a plain drawing. Well, I'm a fan of cardboard modelling, too. I collected all more or less free models from the internet I could get, and, of course, I built a few. Maybe start with an easy one, hmm... nothing is really easy that way. Got to think it over. |
