When RHAF was interested for the P6M back in 1965,THK AU aquired several P5 Marlin (number varies, but correct number is around 20) and received also a large number of S-2A/E Tracker (>60 total) from 1969-1980.Some S-2E were modified to Turbo Tracker and replaced by a license variant of C-295 Persuader in mid 2000s.The Marlin was disappeared from Aegean sky in early 1990s.Then only 3-4 were airworthy and flying rarely, since all other airframes were cannibalised.THK use some F-16 in antiship role with AGM-84 Harpoon, some sources say also that some F-4ET modified for the airlaunched variant of Sea Lance as RN did in F-4K.
My question is why couldn't you follow through with this logical thinking for the Hellenic Forces in the first place instead of trying to shoe-horn un-optimized leased airframes?
