At the Moment I am listening to "The Bear and the Dragon" and I am a bit confused about the fact that countries like russia, poland are still afraid of Germany evan Jack Ryan states concerns about Germany. Since the plot of the book is set in the late 90s I am wondering if that is realistic.
Beeing a german officer I like to ask this international comunity for your thought about Germany. Do you think Germany is still a military danger to its neighbours?
I'm not going to speak about popular attitudes in Russia, but here in Poland there's significant portion of society (mostly of rather right-wing conservative political persuasion) that believes that Russia and Germany just can't wait to sign "Ribbentropp-Molotov Pact v.2.0", or even that they already signed it long ago (be it as "Schroeder-Putin" or "Merkel-Putin"), and it's realization is well underway, just not with tanks but more subtle means.
As for "The Bear and the Dragon" - Polish government welcoming entry of Russia into NATO...
Why (against whom) did he thought we entered that organization in the first place?
