Considering that world wide piracy is at it lowest since the end of the cold war I'm not really seeing it.
The lowest since the end of Cold War ? Maritime piracy is costing the international economy between $7 to $12 billion, per year and you say that this is a calm times ?
No, but I am saying that Piracy in Asia and off West Africa is at it's lowest point ever and piracy off Somalia and in the Indian Ocean is at it's lowest since we started sending ships down there.
The Somalian pirates have made a huge media impact because they've hit western ships.
I'm not saying these are calm times, just that they are calmer than most.
Also, while $12 billion may sound like a lot, they are less than a drop in the bucket in an industry that generates several trillion dollars each year.
