I do appreciate the suggestions. I have a consultation with Dr. Erickson on the 31st, and I have to call him to get the results of the nerve-function test I had done monday, so I'll bring some of these suggestions up and run them by him.

...which is why it's a good idea to actually consult a physician. So have fun with this Dr. Erickson.

I don't know if discussing the manner in which he will be disecting my spine is "fun" but we shall see ;)

On a more serious note thanks for the well wishes folks. My coworkers are annoyed with this whole thing, one because they'll be losing me for a month or longer, and two when I'm in better physical shape I'm REALLY going to be running circles around them.

Heat packs maybe? That would be a bugger of an injury. I jarred my neck putting on a new motorcycle helmet and that was painful but nothing like you would be experiencing. Not a doctor so cannot suggest anything....legally anyway. I tried acupuncture with mixed results.

My only advice: spend less time in front of a p.c. Humans were not designed to sit for hours getting RSI and loosing their eyesight in front of a monitor, added to which it can play havoc with your posture. Just remember, a computer doesn't need to sleep.

That said, I wish you well :)

Thanks again!

Had a consultation with Dr. E today. July 10th I'll be undergoing an "anterior cervical diskectomy and fusion" at C5-6 and will be out of work for 3-6 weeks. On the bright side I might actually get some Real Designs done during the downtime. In the meanwhile, I'm on Hydrocodone/APAP 10/325 and Tramadol HCL 50mg until the surgery. I've been advised to discontinue NSAIDs (asprin, ibuprofin and meloxicam are the normal ones I've been taking.)

Firstly, may I echo everybody else's sentiments and wish you well.

Have you tried Tramadol Hydrochloride before? That has been prescribed to me for my flare-ups of neuropthy and I find it works very well.

Failing that, alcohol, in quantity. It wont help with the pain as such, but when slozzled, you really wont care ;)
