its still a nice rendering. and with how fast China is developing we could see something similar before decades end
I'm not so sure just because cruisers are really almost as obsolete as battleships are for pretty much the same reasons - size isn't everything. Their
Lujang class ships are capable of blue water projection (the main mission of a cruiser) complete with phased arrays yet are not that much bigger at the waterline than an OHP. And while it's true that frigates and destroyers are growing in size, they're still not quite up to a Ticonderoga (which was originally a "destroyer" anyway). In fact the European-style "frigates" show that you can do a lot of cruiser-style missions on a rather small hull, and it's only the U.S. and its Asian allies that demand the really big, "cruiser"-style destroyers (once again for long-range power projection). The Chinese, on the other hand, seem to prefer that old adage of Asians valuing efficiency over theatrics.
