"Stuck" in some "mud" at my place in Houston. I stopped bothering at this point and went and pulled it out with our tractor. Didn't feel like digging a hole getting it out... this was after we had gotten 6" of rain in as many hours and what looked like nice grass was actually a morass that managed to pull off both my boots in short order.

On that note I need new tires. I've got Michelins on it right now which are wonderful for highway driving, but my old BFG all-terrains would have gotten me out of that no problem...

Well, things like that happens. They teach us to appreciate tractors.... I conditions like that even a Range Rover could get stuck...
A friend tried to move some heavy stuff across his lawn with an ordinary Scania truck... He got stuck... They tried pull him out with another 15 ton truck. The clutch didn´t like it... Both trucks stuck.... So it took five minutes pull them up with uor little CASE tractor.
I didn´t take a picture of that...

At home we have an small tractor with an 40hp engine. at one time we towed some logs, at the same time we helped and car to get out of the mud. We just connected the car to the logs.

Incredible what those small tractor engines can handle!

It´s most the traction. On any surface accept conctrete or paved road a small tractor win pulloff against any car. The most funny pulls I´ve seen is a John Deere 8530 ( about 300 hp) against a 6x6 IVECO truck ( 4-450 hp) The tuck didn+t stad a single chans, and was towed backwards at high speed... We have a couple of tractors from our beloved Ford 4000 ( 1969 ) to the newest Valtra N 111 from 2012.

Our Case tractor managed to tear an 2 inch mooringline in two pieces when pulling down a pine. Thats not supposed to happen....

Yep... the one rule I learned about mud driving is to never reinforce failure by sitting on the gas trying to get the truck out. Just go get the tractor!
