Well, this is my first AU ASR design, and also my first land vehicle FD ... I wasn't sure where to post it, so I thought it best to open a new Topic ...
As a brief introduction, the Argentine Socialist Republic is based on that in 1974 the leftist insurgency manages to defeat the pro-US military dictatorship and takes power.
  
As for the vehicle ... The "Puma" is basically a slightly modified BMP-2 chasis assembled under license (probably from knocked-down kits), with a French TS-90 turret, equipped with a 90 mm Giat gun. The idea is to use it as a reconnaissance vehicle and a light tank/tank-destroyer, possibly replacing the PT-76s around the 80s ...
I can´t decide on the location of the turret, so I made two versions to see what you think...
In the first version the turret is in the same place as on the BMP-2, which I imagine would simplify its manufacturing due to greater communality... On the second the turret is a little further aft, as on the BRM-1, (I guess it would distribute the weight better) and different smoke grenade launchers...



As always, any comment, advice or corrections are welcome, both about the drawing as for the concept itself ... Hope you like it!

Interesting concept, I would choose Version 2 so you have enough space to maount the turret in the infantry room.
I also would shorten the main gun a little bit and fit a anti-tank missile starter if you want to use it as a tank hunter...

Otherwise I'm looking for more

About the gun barrel length, I would like to keep guns as they were designed. There is a earlier much shorter version (33 vs 52 calibers) of this gun, but its much lower velocity gives poor penetration, so I think I would keep the long one... As for the AT missile, I will start without one, but maybe include them on a later stage, when increasing tank armour make gun ammo rounds not so effective...

Naixoterk, seeker36340: I´m not sure yet... Maybe just locally assembled MiG-21s, but I don´t want to make the ASR overzealous... My intention is to only produce locally a) under license when large numbers produced justifies it, and b) indigenous developed equipment when requirements cannot be fulfilled with existing ones.

As a little preview: The late 70´s-80´s ASR Air Force core will (obviously ) be the ubiquitous MiG-21 as the standard air-defense fighter, supplemented with some more advanced MiG-23s, some remains of previously operated types, and the the ASR will join the J-22/AIR-93 program as its standard ground-attack and CAS aircraft... But I have to specify numbers and versions of all of them...

Regarding the Puma, I opted for a halfway turret version... I hope that will give a compromise between weight distribution and acceptable gun depression angles... As the BMP "amphibious capability" is more for river crossing than to swim on open waters (at least thats what my reference bibliografy told), I´m almost sure that the Argentine Naval Infantry will not be equipèd with it...

So what kind of Socialist State are we talking here? Are we talking Socialist Planned Economy, or what? I'm interested to know some backdrop on the nation. I have my own Soviet Socialist Republic which I plan on doing more for soon

My idea is a non-aligned country, although considerably more closer to the USSR tha to the USA… a bit like Yugoslavia . Although my major partners would be from the socialist bloc, my intention is to retain reasonably good relations with Western European powers, only reducing them to the bare minimum with the "evil Imperialist” US .
As for the economy, I’m not an expert in that field... (aside from obviously being the undisputed supreme leader , I just want direct control of the defense issues, I would delegate the rest...) The idea is that the state having the upper hand, with a great nationalization of key sectors, although I'm not sure this is unique to a “Socialist Planned Economy”, as that's how it was in reality until early 90s…



As for new AU designs...

Sorry for the ones waiting for indigenous Hi-tech supersonic fighters . But as I said before, I don’t want t be too overzealous, so I start with not so complex or spectacular (but no less necessary) stuff...


I included Eswube in the credits because the M601 engine was taken from his Let 410...

This basic turboprop trainer is based on the real IA-62 unbuilt project, although fitted with a more "socialist" Walter M601 instead of the originally intended Astazou



The idea is that his development started relatively soon after taking power, so I estimate that around 1978-80 should be flying...
The AII (or A2) were a few examples built with hardpoints and other associated equipment for limited weapons training.
The B version was a more ambitious and modern follow-on, to fix certain limitations of the original design. It’s equipped with ejection seats, reinforced landing gear, a true combat weapons capability, and other refinements ... This version should have seen the light around the mid-80s... (I hope the CG remains within limits! )

By the way... “Gurí” means “boy” in indigenous Guaraní language, but it´s a relatively well known term to anybody… I found it a suitable name for a basic trainer, and that it didn’t sound so bad...

I know the paint schemes lacks the national markings, I still haven't decided their final design...

Looks nice.

Very nice work and a neat concept. These look very good and the IA-62B looks a plausible development too.

I'd love to see the real IA-62 project represented too elsewhere in the FD scale threads.
