What I did:

- some sharp lines was soften up.
- changed the shading a bit and simplified it!
- Break the SB-rule on the gun barrel but sometimes it is ....
- moved stickers, and added one that I saw on a picture.
- added some small metal bits that hanging on the turret housing, that wasn't drawn.
- did a small change in the color of the roof of the gun house.
- did a one pixel change on the lower front bit of the gun-housing.
- just for testing colors. the gun on the right have a darker railing than the gun on the left. (here is the possibility to cheat a bit and give the railings two colors. giving the aft railing darker color than that railing that is in front of it)

sorry, but
- that barrel is just plain ugly
- the turret shape is actually worse on yours IMO
- other then that, there is really not much improvement in it's ugly looks xD
but thanks for noticing those bits, I had those on but for some reason they got deleted in my final version :S

so, if you don't mind, I will go ahead with my own set of 'better lookers' if Hood agrees with that. (but I added it to my little WIP sheet for comparision)

The gun is so compact that she is difficult to do!

My bet will be to do it in the same way as the US 5" gun do it as simple as possible and drop any unnecessary details.

heuhen's version is actually quite good, almost "too good" looking, in terms of what the scale can achieve. Most important in SB scale is to capture the shape of the object, not to get all the little details (that are under the scale anyways) on almost correct spots.
I suggest paying attention to the barrel extensions (or bulps) remembering that shipbucket is the art of exageration, and in weapons it comes to play more prominetly than elsewhere. The orginal version Imo is propably the only solution for the barrel if i would make the final call, but sometimes a pixel difference can make huge impact.

Wow Ace, so many variants to choose from!

It's a hard mount to get right. Most technical drawings etc. seem to have a more curved rear-section but I'm not sure it is that curved in real-life. I would say that your favourite version ringed in green is the best, far better than the current mount. However, I'm undecied about Heuhen's barrel. I agree with Golly that the Mk8's distinguishing feature is the lumpy barrel and Huehen's solution is neater than a 2x2 grey blob in the middle while Ace's offers a very sutble approach. Hmmm, much to ponder but we're certainly heading the right way.

I don't usually comment on part sheet debates but as a user of the guns in question I prefer heuhen's version on shape alone.

don't forget the ones on the previous page bombhead, heuhen took an modified version of my first version, and the only big difference is that line on the turret and the barrel. (ow yeah, and the bits at the bottom, but at the final version of the turret these will be added to mine too)

I shall await Ace's final version then before committing to any kind of vote.
Feel free to experiment further with the barrels too. As usual at this scale the best will be a compromise of factors, but if it looks correct and looks good then we'll have the right part.

Any OGFL member is welcome to express any views, the parts sheet is always a co-operative event. I wouldn't want to impose parts on the rest of you that you're not happy/ satisified with.

new version, with the turret itself 99% detailed (I have to look for a few things like stickers, that is the last 1%, but you can consider that finished) and some different barrel options.
I worked further on my favorite version from the last page, and added the original, an way too thick try and heuhens versions.

so, OGFL faction, please submit your votes ( and any comments on the turret itself or ideas how to change the barrel are welcome as well, of course) and will be merged into the final version.

EDIT: ow and, keep in mind that in the final version, the barrel will most likely be dark grey as it seems to be that colour in real life.....
