History
The Orignial Jackalope design was the Product of Federation design Requirement 246.01 in 2352, for a high speed medium transport. Several designs were proposed, but the winning design was submitted by Kettering-Patterson Spacecraft. The Excitement at KPS turned to dispair as the Admiralty, intent on controling all starship design in the Federation, Increased the Cargo Capabilities on the soon to be launched Galaxy and Nebula Classes. In this way the Jackalope Class was killed before it had even flew. The half compleated frame was left in storage until the Borg Incursion of 2367, at which point StarFleet ordered the ship dismantled for parts. Following this order having been issued, KPS launched a petition that they be allowed to finish the construction using private funding. Reluctantly StarFleet aquiessed, and the Ship was trasfered to Wright-Patterson Spaceport, where the design was partially finished when it became apparent that the YoyoDyne YFWK-2B warp Coil assemblies would not be ready in time for the projected Launch date of 2372. As a result the decision was made to change over to 4 Leading LFWT-6C units. This decision required that the pylons be redesigned. The Jackalope was then finished not 3 months before the start of Dominion War. As the Dominion war started, the Federation "Drafted" The Jackalope, and began using it as a fleet tender, where it saw limited action. It did however serve with distinction, including and incedent were while resuplying one Sabre Class, the Jackalope was forced to beam abord the entire crew of an Excelsior who's core was about to breach, while the Excelsior was lost, the Jackalope's heavy armor enabled it to survive until it was able to jump to warp and escape, thus being true to it's namesake. On atleast 3 other occasions the Jackalope was able to out run both Dominion Cruisers and bug fighters After the War, the Office of the President Ordered the Starfleet corp of Engineers to evaluate if further production of Jackalope Class Transports for Federation use is Warented. Even if the design is rejected, Kosmoflot, Weland-Yutani, BlueSun, Pan Galactic, Cunard SpaceLines, Planet Express, Federation Express, and American AstroLines have expressed intrest in This large, fast, reliable Transport.
This isn't technically the earliest that I still have - it's just the earliest that I let anyone see.
