The D10 class, was a class of heavy freight 2-4-4-2 articulated steam locomotives, that were built just prior to WWI, as the Zipang national Railways, standard super heavy freight locomotive, despite having a high tractive effort due to their articulated design, the class did very poorly in service, with adhesion problems, and steam generation problems, being some of their most notable flaws, however with expensive rebuilds throughout the 20s and 30s, the class would go on to prove themselves as a rugged and reliable class especially as banking and assistant locomotives, the class would see a long service life with the final members being withdrawn in 1974, as of 2020 three of these locomotives are currently preserved with one currently semi-regular operation, at the Kuriwara heritage railway.

Another addition to my locomotive collection

The D12 class, was a class of heavy freight steam locomotive, built during the late 1910s by the ZNR, the class shared many design elements from the previous D5 class consolidation, and the underdevelopment D10 articulated locomotives that it was built alongside, however unlike it's articulated cousin, the D12 would quickly prove itself to be a reliable and Powerful machine with a grand total of 127 locomotives constructed between 1912 and 1917, however the class would be quickly overshadowed by the much more powerful E10 2-10-0's, but fortunately they would still proved to be reliable locomotives with many members of the class serving into the late 1960s and early 1970s, with the final members of the class being pulled from service in 1972, as of 2020 14 of these locomotives still exist, in with two still operational on the Iwazaki heritage steam railway.

The A9 Class mogul, was a class of Express passenger locomotive built by the Kuriwara and Heguri railway, for use on its high priority Express trains, the class also has the notable distinction of being the last steam locomotive class built before the grouping act of 1909.

Between 1903 and 1907 102 of these locomotives would be built, with the total production being spread amongst two distinct types, the type one works like a superheater, and the Type II which was a superheated locomotive visually distinguishable from the type 1, via its largest smoke box and relocated steam dome, after the grouping act of 1909 all locomotives in the class would be redesignated as the 3200 series in accordance to ZNR's classification of pre-grouping locomotives.

Despite being quite frail and elegant in appearance, the 3200 series will continue to prove themselves excellent passenger locomotives even after being downgraded from mainline Express duties in the early 1920s, even by the late 1960s several of his locomotives was still being employed in certain areas on the on the ZNR network, with No.69, No.12 and No.100 being employed at the Heguri power plant from 1964 up until the power plants closure in 1968, by 1971 all 3200 series locomotives would be withdrawn from service, with locomotive No.69 being the sole representative of her class in preservation.
