Post subject:  A little help with a drawing

I'm working on a Ship-of-the-Line for an AU RP I'm doing with some friends. but I hit a a snag in designing the bow of the vessel(where the figure head would go), I am loosely basing off the HMS Victory. If any one can give me some advice or pointers on how to draw the bow of the vessel it will be greatly apreciated.

what I have so far:

*shrug* it actually looks great as it is, so I have trouble understanding the problem.

as shown in the below image the part of the bow where the figure head an bowsprit is mounted has some sort of railing, I'm having problems figuring out how to draw said railing

It will probably just have to take a lot of practice and trial-and-error.

while of much smaller size, the irene I have drawn might come helpfull (it is in the netherlands folder) she is of about the same age and shape, but a lot smaller, of course :P
apart from that, I would suggest this: draw the top 'bar', the bottom, and then start filling in in between. filling in I would begin with the 'vertical' bars, which are regularly spaced and from the side more or less straight, and then let the horizontals onto them with the same partion of the vertical bars between them. (this would make them closer to each other at the tip and further from each other near the hull itself) these parts are curved in multiple directions and there are so many ways to build, let alone draw them, that as long as you have the shape of the outlines correct, the inner works are most likely good any way you draw them ;)
let them go a few pixels 'into' the hull as well, as they are somewhat curved around the front of the hull.

if you can't get it look right, draw first the sheer and deck lines (and maybe gun ports) of the hull before restarting on it. these give the details on the bow an completely different look.

The front of the forecastle should line up with the bow. That's why it doesn't look right.

Here she is again, feel it is a this point I should own up and tell you guys that this AU I'm drawing this for is related the to the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, I'm not sure what the Ship Bucket's stance on that is but judging by the reaction to when Satirius posted an AU related to MLP I feel this topic will be flamed like there's no tomarrow.
